S.O. 1001. In pursuance of the provisions of section 67 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 ( 43 of 1951 ) , the following declaration containing the name of the candidate elected to fill the vacancy in the Council of States is pub- lished for general information : -

ELECTION TO FILL CASUAL VACANCY
"In pursuance of section 53 ( 2 ) of the Representation of the People Act , 1951, I declare that Sri V. V. RAMASWAMY alias RAMASWAMY NADAR of ' Thenral' , Post Box No. 1 , Virudhunagar , Ramanathapuram District , has been duly elected by the elected Members of the Legislative Assembly of Madras to fill the vacancy in the Council of States caused by the seat of Sri C. N Annadurai having become vacant .
