G.S.R. 418.—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944 read with sub-section (3) of section 3 of the Mineral Products (Additional Duties of Excise and Customs) Act, 1958 (27 of 1958), the Central Government hereby exempts Light OH, that Is to say. a coal- tar distillation product, falling under Item No. 6(i) of the First Schedule to ths Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 pf 1944), produced in any coke oven plant, from—

112 T HE GAZETTE OF INDIA EXTRAORDINARY [PART II-SEC. 3(li)] Provided that— i(i) it Is proved to the satisfaction of the Collector of Central Excise that such Light Oil is intended for use as feed-stock in the manufacture of thinners, solvents and solvent naphthas; and
(ii) the procedure set out in Chapter X of the said Rules is followed.
