NOTIFICATION
New Delhi , the 25th Marel 1967
No. 6 / 66 - CI ( ST ) ..66 - CI ( ST ) Whereas the Government of India ( Ministry of Iron and Steel Resolution No. SC ( II ) -14 ( 19 ) / 66 , dated September 12 , 1966 ) appointed a Committee of Inquiry consisting of ( 1 ) Shri A. K. Sarkar , former Chief Justice of India , as Chairman; ( 2 ) Shri V. S. Hejmedi , former Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission and ( 3 ) Shri P. C. Padhi , former Chairman of the Central Board of Revenue and former Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General of India as Members to hold a thorough and comprehensive inquiry into all aspects of the working of the Ministry of Iron and Steel with reference to parties mentioned in the 50th Report of the Public Accounts Committer and to further , similarly enquire into transactions relating to the other parties to whom large licences / permits have been issued from 1951-52 onwards and find out whether any irregularities or defaults were commit- ted by any person in authority or any other person , firm or company connected with the sald transactions and , if so , whether such irregularities or defaults have resulted in loss to the Government or any undue advantage to the party or parties concerned etc.
And whereas in the 50th Report of the Public Accounts Committee the names of the following parties and their associates have been mentioned:

And whereas the Committee has commenced its work and by Ministry of Iran & Steel Notification No. SC ( II ) -14 ( 19 ) / 66 , dated October 7 , 1966. the Central Gov ernment has directed that the provisions of section 4,4, sub -sections ( 2 ) , ( 3 ) , ( 4 ) && ( 3 ) of section 5 , section 6 , section 9 and section 10 of the Commissions of Inquiry Act , 1952 (60 cif 1952 ) shall apply to the Committee.
Now, therefore , this notification is issued by and under the order of the Com- mittee, inviting all persons acquainted with the subject matter of the inquiry to furnish information to the Committee . The information should be sent in the form of an affidavit containing a statement of facts set out in separate paragraphs each relating to a specific transaction , and should Indicate details of the licences/ permits issued along with names of the party or parties who have either derived undue benefit or who may have been aggrieved by an action of any person in authority as referred to in the Government's Resolution . Where reliance is placed on docu- ments a list of the documents along with the documents in original or true copies of such of the documents as maybe in possession should be forwarded to the Committee . TheThe name and address of the person from whom the remaining docu- ments may be obtained should also be stated . Such affidavits must be properly verified in the following manner, namely " that the statements in paragraph THE GAZETTE OF INDIA EXTRAORDINARY

and . graphs . ..of the foregoing affidavit are true to my knowledge " , and in case the statements are derived from information received, "that the statements in para- are based on information received by me from . (name of the informant ) residing at... and be- Heved by me to be true " . The affidavits may be sent to the undersigned by name or filed in the office of the Committee by Ist May , 1967 .
