NOTIFICATIONS New Delhi, the 12th April 1967
S.O. 1329.—Whereas a vacancy has occurred in the seats allotted to the State of Assam in the Council of States by reason of the resignation of Shri A. Thanglura;
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 147 of the said Act, the Election Commission hereby calls upon the elected mem- bers of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Assam to elect, in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the rules and orders made thereunder, a person to fill the vacancy so caused before the 7th May, 1967.

S.O. 1330.—In pursuance of the provisions of sub-section (1) of section 39 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby appoints for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100/AS-CS/2/67(l), dated the 12th April, 1967:—
(a) the 19th April, 1967, as the last date for making nominations; (b) the 20th April, 1967, as the date for the scrutiny of nominations; (c) the 22nd April, 1967, as the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures; (d) the 4th May, 1967, as the date on which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken; and
(e) the 7th May, 1967, as the date before which the election shall be com-

S(ilj] S.O. 1331.—In pursuance of section 56 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby fixes the hours from 1.00-p.m. to 5.00 p.m. as the hours during which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100/AS-CS/2/ . 07(1), dated the 12th April, 1967. [No. 100/AS-CS/2/67(3).]S.O. 1332.—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 21 of the Representa- tion ol the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission, in consultation with the Uovernment of Assam, hereby designates the Secretary, Assam Legislative Assembly, to be the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held ii pursuance of its notification No. 100/AS-CS/2/67(l), dated the 12th April, 1967. S.O. 1333.—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 22 of the Representation of the People Act, 19-51, the Election Commission hereby appoints the Under Secretary, Assam Legislative Assembly, to assist the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100/AS-CS/2/67(l), doted the 12th April, 1967, in the performance of his functions.
