NOTIFICATION
New Delhi , the 10th October 1967
S.O. 3686. Whereas the Election Commission , has under clauses ( d ) and ( e) of section 30 of the Representation of the People Act , 1951 ( Act 43 of 1951 ) appointed the 3rd November , 1967 , as the date of poll in the Madras South Parlia mentary Constituency in the State of Madras and the 6th November as the date before which the bye - election in the said constituency is to be completed;
And whereas the Election Commission is satisfied that in view of the Deepa- vali festival falling on the 1st November , 1967 , in the State of Madras , a postpone- ment of the date of poll is necessary ;
Now, therefore , in exercise of the powers conferred by section 153 and section 30 of the said Act, the Election Commission hereby extends the date before which the said election shall be completed to the 11th November , 1967 , and directs-
in notification NO. dated the 30th 30th Septem- ber , 1967 , for the words , figures and letters '6th November , 1867 " , words , figures and letters 11th November 1967 ' shall be substituted: and (i)
(ii ) that in its notification No. 100/ MD / HP/ 1 / 67 ( 2 ) dated the 30th Septem- ber, 1967, in item ( d ) for the words, figures and letters " 3rd Novem- 1967", the words, figures and letters "7th November , 1967 " 1967" shall be substituted , and in item ( e ) for the words , figures and letters " 6th November , 1967 " , the words , figures and letters " 11th November 1967" shall be substituted .
