CUSTOMS
New Delhi , the 25th January 1968
G.S.R. 180.- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub - section ( 1 ) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 ( 52 of 1962 ) , the Central Government , being satisfied that it is necessary in thethe public interest so to do , hereby exempts all articles of food , medical preparations for removal of nutritional deficiencies and other articles , consigned by foreign Governments or organisations to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (Department of Food) , ( hereinafter referred to as " the goods " ) , being gifts for the relief of the persons affected by the earthquake in the State of Maharashtra , from the whole of the duty of customs leviable thereon ;
Provided that in respect of each such consignment a certificate is furnished by the Director General of Food or the Chief Secretary to the Government of Maha- rashtra that the goods will be distributed frce for the relief of such persons without discrimination of caste , creed or race and in the event of the goods being sold on the ground that they could not be applied for the relief of such persons , the pro- ceeds thereof will be applied for the relief of such persons without discrimination of caste , creed or race .
2. This notification shall be in force till the 28th February , 1968 .
