NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 12th March 1968
S.O. 1001-—Whereas the Election Commission has under clauses (a), (b), (c) and (d) of sub-section (1) of section 39 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (Act 43 of 1951), appointed the 15th March, 1968, as the last date for making nominations, the 16th March, 1968, as the date for the scrutiny of nominations, the 18th March, 1968, as the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures and the 25th March, 1968, as the date on which a poll shall, 11 necessary, be taken in the biennial election to the Council of States by the elected members of the Legisla- tive Assembly of Andhra Pradesh;
And whereas the Government of Andhra Pradesh has subsequently declared the 15th March, 1968, to be a public holiday under section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Central Act XXVI of 1881);
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of sec- tion 39 of the said Act and of other powers enabling it in this behalf, the Elec- tion Commission hereby amends its notification No. 318/AP/68(1) dated the 8th March, 1968, as follows:

S (ii) ] For the entry "(c) the 18th March, 1968, as the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures" the entry "(c) the 20th March, 1968, as the last date for the with- drawal of candidatures" shall be substituted-For the entry "(d) the 25th March, 1968, as the date on which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken" the entry "(d) the 27th March, 1968, as the date on which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken" shall be substituted.
