G.S.Л. 1819 In exercise of the powers conferred by sub - rule ( 1 ) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules , 1944 , read with sub - section ( 4 ) of section 39 of the Finance Act, 1968 ( 19 of 1968 ) , the Central Government hereby exempts all variet- ies of tea ( except package tea) , falling under sub - item ( 1 ) of Item No. 3 of the First Schedule to the Central Excises and Salt Act , 1944 ( 1 of 1944 ) , from the whole of the special duty of excise leviable thereon under clause ( b ) of sub- section ( 1 ) of the said Section 39.
