ORDER

New Delhi the 30th October 1968

S.O. 3893—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 (10 of 1955). the Central Government hereby makes the following order further to amend the Jute (Licensing and Control) Order, 1981, namely:—

1. This Order may be called the Jute (Licensing and Control) Amendment Order. 1968.

In the Jute (Licensing and Control) Order, 1961, after clause 8, the following clause shall be inserted, namely:—

"8 A. Power to control production of jute textiles—

The Jute Commissioner may, by order, direct any manufacturer, or class of manufacturers, or the manufacturers generally, to produce or not to produce such classes or specifications of jute textiles as may be specified in the order and pres- cribe the maximum or minimum quantities of jute textiles which each such manufacturer, or class of manufacturers, or manufacturers generally, shall pro- duce during such period as may be specified in the said order:

Provided that in making an order under this clause, the Jute Commissionershall have regard to— (a) the capacity of the manufacturer, or class of manufacturers, or the manufacturers generally, to manufacture jute textiles; ( 1267)

(b) the need to maintain the supplier with particular reference to th" arallablllty of raw jute, the requirement! for domestic coniumptloM and the need to safeguard export earning!; and

(cj any other ralarant factor."-
