New Delhi, the 5th. February 1969

G.S.R. 256.—In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 11C, 11J and 11K of the Customs Act, 1882 (52 of 1962), read with clause (34) of section 2 of the said Act, and in supersession of the notification of the Central Board of Excise and Customs No G.S.R. 42, dated the 3rd January, 1969, the Central Board of Excise and Customs hereby assigns the functions under each of the sections of the said Act specified in column (2) of the Table hereto annexed, to the officer specified in the corresponding entry In column (3) thereof

11C(i) Assistant Collector of Customs in charge of the Preventive De- partment of the Custom House at Bombay, Calcutta, Madras, Cochin, Goa, Kandla and Visakhapatnam. within the area under his jurisdiction. ( 5 1)

(ii) In areas in the district of Thana and Colaba in the State of Maha- ¹ - Tflphtra, and in other areas in the State of Maharashria within the jurisdiction of the Collector of Central Excise, Bombay, the Su- perintendent of Central Excise working under the said Collector and to whom functions in this respect are assigned by the said Collector.

(iii) In areas in the State of West Bengal, the Superintendent of Central

Excise working under the Collector of Land Custom^ and Central Excise, West Bengal, to whom functions in this respect are as- signed by the said Collector,

(iv) In all other places. Superintendent of Central Excise within

the area under his jurisdiction.

(0 In areas in the district of Thana and Colaba in the State of Maha- rashtra, and in other areas in the State of Maharashtra within the jurisdiction, of" the Collector of Central Excise, Bombay, the Superintendent' of Central Excise working under the said Col- lector and to whom functions in this respect arc assigned by the

(ii) In areas, in the State of West Bengal, the Superintendent of Cen- tral Excise working under the Collector of Land Customs and Central Excise West Bengal, to whom functions in this respect arc assigned by the said Collector

(iii) In all other places, Superintendent of Central Excise within the

(i) In areas in the district of Thana and Colaba in the State of Maharashtra, and in other areas in the State of Maharashtra within the jurisdiction of the Collector of Centra) Excise, Bombay, the Superintendent of Central Excise or in his absence on leave or on tour, he Inspector of Central Excise, working urder the said Collector and to whom Functions in this respect are assigned by the said Collector.

(u) In areas in the State of West Bengal, the Superintendent of Cen- tral Excise or, in his absence on leave or on tour, the Inspector of Central Excise, working under the Collector of Land Customs and Central Excise, West Bengal, to whom functions in this res- pect arc assigned by the said Collector.

(ni) In all other places, Superintendent of Central Excise or, in

his absence on leave or on tour, the Inspector of Central Excise, within the area under his jurisdiction."
