The following Act of Parliament received the assent of the President on the 29th August, 1969, and is hereby published for general informa- tion:—
THE PRESS COUNCIL (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1969 No. 27 OF 1969
[29th August, 1969]
An Act to amend the Press Council Act, 1965.
BE it enacted by Parliament in the Twentieth Year of the Republic of India as follows: —
1. (1) This Act may be called the Press Council (Amendment) Act, 1969.
(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 30th day of

Amend- ment of section 5.
2. In section 5 of the Press Council Act, 1965 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), after sub-section (1), the following sub-section shall be inserted, namely: —
" (1A) Notwithstanding the expiry of the period of office specified
292 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA EXTRAORDINARY [PART II—Sit. 11Provided that nothing in this sub-section shall apply to a member who ceases to be a member before the 31st day of March, 1970, by reason of the provisions of sub-section (2), or whose term of office expires before that date by reason of the provisions of silb-sectlon (3).".
3. (1) The Press Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 1069, is hereby 5 Of 1969. repealed.
Repeal ind sav- ing
(2) Notwithstanding suc!h repeal, anything done or any action taken under the principal Act, as amended by the said Ordinance, shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the corresponding provisions of the principal Act as amended by this Act.
