NOTIFICATION

S.O. 922.-Whereas it has been decided to hold a general election for the purpose of constituting a Provisional Legislative Assembly for the State of Meghalaya under section 62 of the Assam Reorganisation ( Meghalaya ) Act , 1969 ( 55 of 69 ) ;

Now , therefore , in pursuance of the provisions contained in rule 3 of the Assam Reorganisation ( Meghalaya ) ( Election to the Provisional Legislative Assembly) Rules , 1970 , the Governor is pleased hereby to call upon the electoral college of each of the autonomous districts within Meghalaya specified in column ( I ) of the Table below to elect the number of members specified against each in column ( 2 ) of the Table in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the Rules and Orders made thereunder:--

New Delhi , the 5th March 1970

S.O. 923. Whereas the Governor has by notification under Rule 3 of the (Assam Reorganisation ) ( Meghalaya ) ( Election to the Provisional Legislative Assembly ) Rules 1970 published in the Gazette of India dated the 5th March, 1970 called upon the electoralelectoral collegescoll of each of the autonomous districts speci- fied in column ( 1 ) of the Table below to elect the number of members specified against that electoral college in column ( 2 ) thereof to the Provisional Legisla- tive Assembly of Meghalaya;

Now, therefore , in pursuance of rule 6 of the Assam Reorganisation ( Meghalaya ) (Election to the Provisional Legislative Assembly ) Rules , 1970 , the Election Commis- sion hereby appoints with respect to the said elections-

(a) the 12th March, 1970 ( Thursday ) as the last date for making nominations ;

(b) the 13th March , 1970 ( Friday ) as the date for the scrutiny of nominations ;

(d) the 20th March , 1970 ( Friday ) as the date on which a poll shall , if necessary , be taken ; and

(e) the 23rd March , 1970 ( Monday) as the date before which the election shall be completed.

सदस्य निर्वाचित कर दें, जितने उस सारणी के स्तम्भ ( 2 ) में उस निर्वाचकगण के सामने विनिर्दिष्ट हैं :

अतः, अब, असम पुनर्गठन ( मेघालय ) ( अस्थायी विधान सभा के लिए निर्वाचन ) नियम, 1970 के नियम 6 के अनुसरण में, निर्वाचन आयोग उक्त निर्वाचनों के बारे में एत‌द्वारा निम्मलिखित तारीखें नियत करता है ।

( क ) नामनिर्देशन की अंतिम तारीख-12 मार्च 1970 ( बृहस्पतिवार );

( ख ) नामनिर्देशन की संवीक्षा की तारीख 13 मार्च 1970 ( शुक्रवार ) ;

( ग ) अभ्यथिताएं वापस लेने की अतिम तारीख 16 मार्च 1970 ( सोमवार ) ;

( घ ) वह तारीख जिसको यदि आवश्यक हो तो मतदान होगा- 20 मार्च 1970 ( शुक्रबार ) तथा

( ङ) वह तारीख जिसके पूर्व निर्वाचन पूरा कर लिया जाएगा-- 23 मार्च 1970 ( सोमवार) [सं ०464 /मेषा/ 70 ( i ) ] 8.0. 924. W. Roy Chief Electoral Officer , Assam as the Returning Officer for the election to the Provisional Legislative Assembly of Meghalaya to be held in pursuance of the Governor's notification published in an extraordinary issue of the Gazette of India , dated the 5th March , 1970.

In exercise of the powers conferred by rule 4 ( 2 ) of the Assam Reorganisation ( Meghalaya ) ( Election to the Provisional Legislative Assembly) Rules , 1970 , the Election Commission hereby appoints in respect of each of the electoral colleges in the State of Meghalaya specified in column ( 1 ) of the Table below, officer designated in the corresponding entry in column ( 2 ) of the said Table , to be the Assistant Returning Officer for the election to thethe Provisional Legislative Assembly of MeghalayaMeghalaya toto beb held in pusuance of the Governor's notification published in an extraordinary issue of the Gazette of India dated the 5th March , 1970:-

S.O. 926. In purusance of rule 18 of the Assam Reorganisation ( Meghalaya) (Election to the Provisional Legislative Assembly ) Rules , 1970 , the Election Com- mission hereby fixes for eacheach of the electoral colleges specified in column ( 1 ) of the Table below, the place specified against the entry in column ( 2 ) of the said Table , at which the poll shall , if necessary , be taken for the election to the Provisional Legislative Assembly of Meghalaya to be held in persuance of the Governor's notification published in the extraordinary issue of the Gazette of India , dated the 5th March , 1970 .

The hours of poll for the said election at each place shall be from 10 A.M. to 3 г.м.

का० आ ० 926: -- असम पुनर्गठन ( मेघालय ) ( अस्थायी विधान सभा के लिए निर्वाचन ) नियम , 1970 के नियम 16 के अनुसरण में , निर्वाचन आयोग , भारत के राजपत्र के असाधारण अंक में 5 मार्च , 1970 को प्रकाशित राज्यपाल की अधिसूचना के अनुसरण में मेघालय को अस्थायी विधान सभा के लिए होने वाले निर्वाचन के लिए , निम्नलिखित सारणी के स्तम्भ ( 1 ) में विनिर्दिष्ट निर्वाचकगणों में से प्रत्येक के लिए उस प्रविष्टि के सामने उक्त सारणी के स्तम्भ ( 2 ) में विनिविष्ट स्थान को , जहां यदि आवश्यक हुश्द्रा तो , मतदान होगा , एतद्वारा नियत करता है ।

प्रत्येक स्थान पर उक्त निर्वाचन के लिए मतदान का समय 10 बजे पूर्वाह्न से 3 बजे उपराल तक होगा ।
