S.O. 963. In pursuance of section 12 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951 ) , the President is pleased to call upon the elected members of the Legislative Assembly of each State or , as the case may be , the members of the electoral college of cach Union territory, specified in column I of the table below, to elect , in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and the rules and orders made thereunder , the number of members specified against that State or Union territory in column 2 of the said table for filling the seats of members of the Council of States retiring on the 2nd April , 1970 , on the expiration of their term of office:-

का० प्रा ० 963.--लोक प्रतिनिधित्व अधिनियम , 1951 ( 1951 का 43 ) की धारा 12 के अनुसरण म राष्ट्रपति, यथास्थिति नीचे दी गई सारणी के स्तम्भ 1 में विनिर्दिष्ट प्रत्येक राज्य की विधान सभा के निर्वाचित सदस्यों या प्रश्येक संघराज्य क्षेत्र के निर्वाचक- गण के सदस्यों से अपेक्षा करते है कि वे राज्य सभा के उन सदस्यों के स्थानों को भरने के लिए जो अपनी पदावधि के अवसान पर 2 अप्रेल 1970 को निवृत्त हो रहे हैं , उक्त अधिनियम के और तदधीन बनाए गए नियमों और किए गए आदेशों के उपबन्धों के अनुसार, उक्त सारणी के स्तम्भ 2 में उस राज्य या संघ राज्यक्षेत्र के सामने विनिर्दिश्ट संख्या में सदस्यों का निर्वाचन करें :-
