G.S.R. 581.—In pursuance of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 11 of the Assam Reorganisation (Meghalaya) Act, 1989 (55 of 1969), the Central Government, after consultation with the Election Commission, hereby fixes the total number of seats in the Legislative Assembly of Meghalaya to be filled by persons chosen by direct election from constituencies in Meghalaya as thirty-eight.
