CENTRAL EXCISES

New Delhi, the 23rd April 1970

G.S.R. 663.—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of sec-

tion 3 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944) and in supersession

of the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Depart-

ment of Revenue and Insurance) No. 77/70-Central Excises, dated the 29th March,

1970, the Central Government hereby fixes a tariff value of Rs. 120 per quintal for

sugar falling under sub-item (1) of Item No. 1 of the First Schedule to the said

Act and chargeable with duty ad valorem.

Provided that nothing contained in this notification shall apply to sugar re- quired by the Central Government to be sold under clause (f) of sub-section (2) of section 3 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 (10 of 1955).
