NOTIFICATIONS
New Delhi , the 14th March 1972
S.O. 185 ( E ) . Whereas the President has by notification published in the Gazette of India , on the 14th March , 1972 , called upon the elected members of the Legislative Assemblies of the States of Maharashtra , Orissa, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh to elect seven , four , six and eleven members respectively to the Council of States ;
Now therefore , in exercise of the powers conferred by sub - section (1 ) of section 39 of the Representation of the People Act , 1951 , the Election Commission hereby appoints with respect to the said elections : -
(a ) the 21st March , 1972 ( Tuesday ) , as the last date for making nominations ;
(b ) the 22nd March , 1972 ( Wednesday ) , as the date for the scrutiny of nomi- nations;
( c) the 24th March , 1972 (Friday ) , as the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures ,
( d ) ( i ) the 31st March , 1972 ( Friday ) , as the date on which a poll shall , if necessary , be taken in the State of Orissa ;
( ii ) the 1st April , 1972 ( Saturday ) , as the date on which a poll shall , if necessary , be taken in the States of Maharashtra , Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh , and
(e) the 3rd April , 1972 ( Monday) , as the date before which the election shall be completed .

एम ० श्रो० 185 ( नं ).-य: भारत के राजपत्र में नारीख 14 मार्च , 1972 को प्रकाशित अधिसूचना द्वारा राष्ट्रपति ने महाराष्ट्र, उड़ीसा , तमिलनाड और उत्तर प्रदेश रा璐की विधान सभाओं के निर्वाचित सदस्यों से राज्य सभा के लिए क्रमश . सान , चार , छः तथा ग्यारह सदस्य निर्वाचित करने की अनेक्षा की है ;
अतः , अब , लोक प्रतिनिधित्व अधिनियम , 1951 की धारा 39 की उपधारा ( 1 ) द्वारा प्रदत्त शक्तियों का प्रयोग करते हुए निर्वाचन आयोग उक्त निर्वाचनों के बारे में: --
21 मार्च , 1972 ( मंगलवार ) (क) नाम निर्देशन करने के लिए अन्तिम तारीख
(ख ) नाम निर्देशनों की संवीक्षा की तारीख.
22 मार्च , 1972 ( बुधवार )
(ग) अभ्यथिताएं वापस लेने की अन्तिम तारीख
24मार्च , 1972 ( शुक्रवार )
( घ) ( 1 ) वह तारीख जिसको यदि श्रवम्यक हो तो उड़ीसा राज्य में मतदान होगा
31मार्च , 1972 ( शुक्रवार )
( 2 ) वह तारीख जिसको यदि आवश्यक हो तो महाराष्ट्र, तमिलनाड तथा उत्तर प्रदेश राज्यों में मतदान होगा 1 अप्रैल , 1972 ( शनिवार ) ; तथा
3 अप्रैल , 1972 ( सोमवार ) ( ङ ) वह तारीख जिसके पूर्व निर्वाचन समाप्त कर दिया जाएगा
एतवद्वारा नियत करता है ।

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 56 of the Represen- tation of the People Act , 1951 , the Election Commission hereby fixes the hours speci- fied in column 2 of the table below , as the hours during which the poll shall , if necessary, be taken at the biennial elections to the Council of States , in the State specified in the corresponding entry in column 1 of the said table, to be held in pursuance of the President's notification published in the Gazette of India on the 14th March , 1972 .

एस ० श्र ० 186 ( प्र) लोक प्रतिनिधित्व अधिनियम, 1951 की धारा 56 द्वारा प्रदत्त शक्तियों का प्रयोग करते हुए , निर्वाचन आयोग , भारत के राजपत्र में तोरीख 14 मार्च , 1972 को प्रकाशित राष्ट्रपति की अधिसूचना के अनुमरण में नीचे की सारणी के स्तम्भ 1 में विनिदिष्ट राज्योंसे राज्य सभा के लिए होने वाले द्विवार्षिक निर्वाचन के लिए उक्त सारणी के स्तम्भ 2 में त्स्थानी प्रविर्दिष्ट में विनिदिष्ट सभय उस समय के रूप में एतदद्वारा नियत करता है , जिसके दौरान यदि आवश्यक हो, तो मतदान होगा ।

In the Election Commission of India notification Nos . 100/ OR - HP/ 2 / 71 ( 2 ) and 100 / OR - HP/ 2 / 71 ( 3 ) , dated 4th February , 1972 , published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary Part II-Section 3-Sub - section ( ii ) , dated the 4th February 1972 , under S.O. 103 ( E ) ( English and Hindi Version ) and S.O. 104 ( E ) ( English Version) respectively , the following corrections may be made:-
On page 254-
(a) In sub - para ( a ) of the notification S.O. 103 ( E ) for the words "last date for the scrutiny of nominations " read "last date for making nominations" .
(b ) In line 7 of its Hindi Version for the date " 24 फरवरी 1972" read " 14 फरवरी , 1972 " .
(c) In the second line of the notification S.O. 104 ( E ) for the hours " 1.30 A.M. " read " 7.30 Α.Μ. "
