S.O.224 (E ) . In pursuance ofsetion 12 of the Representation of the Poeple Act , 1951 (43 of 1951) , the President is pleased to call upon the elected members of the Legislative Assembly ci cach State or, as the case may be , the member of the electoral college of the Union territory , speci- tied in column of the table below , to elect , in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and the rules and orders made thereunder , the number of members specified against that State or Union territory in column 2 of the said table for filling the seats of members of the Council of States re- tiring on the 2nd April , 1972 , on the expiration of their term of cffice , including the seat of a main- ber representing the State of Bihar who has resigned and who but for such resignation would have retired on 2nd April , 1972 , and the seats of two members representing the State of Gujarat who have died and who but for such death would have retiredou and Apr. 1977-

नई दिल्ली , 22 मार्च , 1972
को ० ग्रा ० 224 ( प्र ) लोक प्रतिनिधित्व अधिनियम , 1951 ( 1951 का 43 ) की धारा 12 के अनुसरण में राष्ट्रपति निम्नलिखित सारणी के स्तम्भ 1 में विनिर्दिष्ट प्रत्येक राज्य की विधान सभा के निर्वाचित सदस्यों या यथास्थिति संघ राज्य क्षेत्र के निर्वाचकगणों को, 2 अप्रैल, 1972 को निवृत्त होने वाले राज्य सभा के सदस्यों की पदावधि समाप्त होने पर उनके स्थान भरने के लिए इसने सदस्यों को जो उक्त सारणी के स्तम्भ 2 में उस राज्य या सघ राज्य क्षेत्र के सामने विनिर्दिष्ट हैं, और जिनके अन्तर्गत विहार राज्य का प्रतिनिधित्व करने वाले उस सदस्य का स्थान भी है, जिसने पदत्याग किया है और जो इस प्रकार पद त्याग न करने पर 2 अप्रैल , 1972 को अन्यथा निवृत्त हुआ होता और गुजरात राज्य का प्रतिनिधित्व करने वाले उन दो सवस्यों के स्थान भी हैं जिमकी मृत्यु हो गई है और मृत्यु न होने पर जो 2 अप्रैल, 1972 को अन्यथा निवृत हुए होते , उक्त अधिनियम के उपबन्धों और तद्वीन बने नियमों और आदेशों के अनुसरण में निर्वाचित करने के लिए ममाहूत करते है
