New Delhi , the 22nd March 1972
S.O. 228 ( E) . Whereas a seat has been allotted to the state of Meghalaya in the Council of states by the North Eastern Areas ( Reorganisation) Act, 1971 , and an election has to be held to fill the seat ;
Now, therefore , in pursuance of the provisions of sub - section ( 1 ) of Section 147 of the Representation of the People Act , 1951 , the Election Commission hereby calls upon the elected members of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Megha- laya to elect , in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the rules and orders made thereunder a person to fill the vacancy so caused before the 10th April , 1972 , ( Monday ) .

एस ० श्र१० 228 ( श्र ). यतः, पूर्वोत्तर क्षत्त्र ( पुनर्गठन ) अधिनियम , 1971 द्वारा मेघालय राज्य के लिए राज्य सभा में एक स्थान आबंटित किया गया है और उस स्थान को भरने के लिए निर्वाचन किया जाना है ;
अतः, अब , लोक प्रतिनिधित्व अधिनियम , 1951 की धारा 147 की उपधारा ( 1 ) के उपबन्धों के अनुसरण में निर्वाचन आयोग , मेधालय राज्य की विधान सभा के निर्वाचित सवस्यों से एतद्वारा अपेक्षा करता है कि वे ऐसे हुई , रिक्ति को भरने का लिए 10 अप्रैल , 1972 ( सोमवार ) से पूर्व , उक्त अधिनियम के और तद्धीन बनाए गए नियमों और श्रादेशों के उपबन्धों के अनुसार, एक व्यक्ति निर्वाचित कर दें ।

In pursuance of the provisions of sub- section ( 1 ) of section 39 of the Representation of the people Act , 1951 , the Election Commission hereby appoints for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100 / CS- MEGH / 3 / 72 ( 1 ) , dated the 22nd March , 1972 :-
(a ) the 29th March . 1972 ( Wednesday ) , as the last date for making nomina- tions;
(b ) the 30th March, 1972 ( Thursday ) , as the date for the scrutiny of nomi- nations; (c) the 1st April , 1972 .. ( Saturday ) , as the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures ;
(d ) the 8th April , 1972 ( Saturday ) , as the date on which a poll shall , if necessary , be taken; and
(e ) the 10th April , 1972 ( Monday ) , as the date before which the election shall be completed .

29 मार्च, 1972 ( बुधवार ) ( क ) नामनिर्देशन करने के लिए अन्तिम तारीख
30 मार्च, 1972 ( बृहस्पतिवार ) (ख ) नामनिर्देशनों की संमीक्षा की तारीख
1 श्रप्रल , 1972 ( शनिवार ) ( ग ) अभ्यथिता वापस लेने की अन्तिम तारीख
8 अप्रैल, 1972 ( शनिवार ) तथा ] ( घ ) वह तारीख जिसको यदि आवश्यक हो, तो मतदान होगा :
10 अप्रैल , 1972 (सोमवार) ( ङ) वह तारीख जिसके पूर्व निर्वाचन समाप्त कर दिया जाएगा

S.O. 230 ( E ) .-In pursuance of section 56 of the Representation of the People Act 1951 , the Election Commission hereby fixes the hours from 10.00 AM. to 3.00 р.м. as the hours during which a poll shall , if necessary , be taken for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100 / CS - MEGH / 3/72 ( 1 ) , dated the 22nd March , 1972 .

एस ० श्र.० 230 ( श्र ) लोक प्रतिनिधित्व अधिनियम , 1951 की धारा 56 के अनुसरग्गा में निर्वाचन आयोग अपनी अधिसूचना सं ० 100/ रा ० स ० -मेषा ० / 3 / 72 ( 1 ) , तारीख 22 मार्च, 1972 के अनुसरण में राज्य सभा के लिए होगे बाले निर्वाचन के लिए 10 बजे पूर्वाह्न से 3 बजे अपराह्न तक का समयउस समय के रूप ने एतद्वारा नियत करता है जिसके दौरान यषि आवश्यक हो तो, मतदान होगा ।

In pursuance of the provisions of section 21 of the Representation of the People Act , 1951 , the Election Commission , in consultation with the Govern- ment of Meghalaya , hereby designates the Secretary , Meghalaya Legislative Assembly , Shillong ,ng , as the Returning Officer for thethe election to the Council of State to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100 / CS - MEGH / 3 / 72 ( 1 ) , dated the 22nd March , 1972 .

एस० श्र ० 231. ( न) -लोक प्रतिनिधित्व अधिनियम , 1951 की धारा 21 द्वारा प्रदत्त शक्तियों का प्रयोग करते हुए निर्वाचन आयोग , मेषालय सरकार के परामर्श से , अपनी अधिसूचना सं ० 100/ रा ० स ० -मेघालय/ 3 / 72 ( 1 ) , तारीख 22 मार्च , 1972 के अनुसरण में राज्य सभा के लिए होने वाले निर्वाचन के लिए मेधालय विधान सभा , शिलौंग के सचिव को रिटर्निंग श्राफिसर के रूप में एतद्वारा पदामिहित करता है ।

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub - section ( 1 ) of section: 22 of the Representation of the People Act , 1951 , the Election Commission hereby appoints the officer on special Duty ( Elections ) , Shillong , to assist the Returning Officer for the election to the Coucil of States toto be held in pursuance of its noti- fication No. 100 / CS - MEGH / 3 / 72 ( 1 ) , dated the 22nd March , 1972 , in the perform- ance of his functions .
