ORDER

New Delhi, the 23rd September 1972

S.O. 622(E).—Whereas in the opinion of the Central Government it is necessary and expedient so to do for securing the defence of India and for maintaining supplies and services essential to the life of the community;

And whereas any strike or lockout in the works connected with the IDIKKI Hydro-electric project in the State of Kerala would prejudicially affect the defence of India and for maintaining supplies and services essential to the life of the community, it is necessary and expedient to prevent strikes in the said works:—

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by rule 118 of the Defence of India Rules, 1971, the Central Government hereby prohibits, with Immediate effect, strike or lockout, in connection with any industrial dispute, in the said works for a period of six months.
