New Delhi, the 1st November 1972

G.S.R. 456 (E),—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of sec- tion 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government, being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby directs that the following further amendments shall be made In the notification of the Govern- ment of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue and Insurance) No. 49-Customs, dated the 1st March, 1969, namely:— In the Table annexed to the said notification,—

(a) for Serial No. 1 and the entries relating thereto, the following shall be substituted, namely:—

"1Hossian cloth and bags : (1) Carpet baking weighing 9 Ozs. Or more per square yard ; (b) Carpet backing not falling under item (a) ; (c) Other hessian cloth (including narrow backing cloth) Ks. 300 per toone Rs. 700 per tonne Rs. 600 per tonne and bags but excluding jute specialities. (2089)

(b) in the entry In column (2), against Serial No. 3, in item (ii), after the words "carpet backing", the words ' narrow backing cloth" shall be inserted.
