CENTRAL EXCISES

New Delhi, the 1st April 1973

G.S.R. 1 8 ' ( E ) .- In exercise of the powers conferred by Sub-section(2) of section 3 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944) and in supersession of the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue and In- -sumnce) No. 223/72-Central Excise, dated the 1st December. 1972, the Central Govern- ment hereby fixes a tariff value of two hundred and sixty-five rupees per quintal for sngar falling under sub item (1) of Item No 1 of the first Schedule to the said Act and chargeable with duty ad valorem.

Provided that nothing contained in this notification shall apply to sugar required by (he Central Government to be sold under clause (ft of sub-section (2) of section 3 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 (10 of 1955) [No. 103/73] S.
