MINISTRY OF COMMERCE
PUBLIC NOTICE IMPORT TRADE CONTROL New Delhi, the 23rd June 1973
SUBJECT.—Supply of imported steel for export prduction.
No. 105-ITC(PN)/73.—Attention of all registered exporters is invited to the Ministry of Commerce Public Notice No. 86-lTC(PN)/73, dated the 5th June, 1973 on the subject of supply of imported steel for export production.
2. It has been decided that apart from supply of imported steel for export production, the value of other imported raw materials (like zine for steel pipes and tubes) will also be reckoned in the total c.i.f. value of import in calculating as to whether or not the f.o.b, value of export contracts exceeds the c.i.f. value of imported inputs by at least 25 per cent, required for fabrication of export pro- ducts, irrespective of whether these inputs are obtained from indigenous or imported supplies,
3. This determination regarding the total value of imported inputs would be made in respect of all inputs which are also partially imported into the economy, even though some part may be available indigenously (as for instance, zinc).
4. The determination in regard to the import price of steel would continue to be made by the Hindustan Steel Limited. The further determination in regard to the requirement of other imported inputs would be made by the directorate General of Technical Development (Engineering Export Promotion Cell) before recommending the import applications to the Chief Controller of Imports and Exports, Now Delhi.
