ORDER
New Delhi, the 30th March 1974
S.O. 227 (E).—Whereas in the opinion' of the Central Government it is neces- sary and expedient so to do for maintaining supplies and services essential to the life of the community;
And whereas any strike in the services in the State of Tamil Nadu connected with the supply of electrical energy to the public or with the generation, storage or transmission of electrical energy for the purpose of such supply (including the works, connected with the supply of electrical energy to the public or with the generation, storage or transmission of electrical energy for the purpose of such supply, connected with the Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited, Neyveli in the State of Tamil Nadu) would prejudicially affect the maintenance of supplies and services essential to the life of the community, it is necessary and expedient to prevent strikes in the said services;
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by rule 118 of the Defence of India Rules, 1971, and in partial modification of the notification of the Govern- ment of India in the Ministry of Labour No. S.O. 216(E), dated the 27th March, 1974, the Central Government hereby prohibits, with immediate effect, any strike in connection with any industrial dispute in the said services for a period of six months,
