MINISTRY OF COMMERCE

PUBLIC NOTICE

IMPORT TRADE CONTROL

New Delhi, the 3rd August 1974

SUBJECT. —Method of calculation of the composite rate for recovery of rupee equivalent in respect of payments made, from foreign loans under direct payment procedure.

No 109-ITC(PN)/74.—Attention is invited to the former Ministry of Foreign Trade Public Notice No. 15-ITC(PN)/72, dated the 28th January, 1972 regarding arrangements for the deposit of the rupee equivalent of the cost of imports made by importers under direct payments procedure as applicable for foreign credits consequent upon the fluctuations of currencies with effect from the 23rd August 1971.

2 In terms of para 3 of the aforesaid Public Notice, the rupee equivalent should be calculated upto 4 decimal places and the resultant figure should be rounded off to the next higher paisa in the 2nd decimal place. In view of the small value of the units of Japanese Yen and Italian Lira currencies, certain anomalies have arisen out of rounding off at the 2nd decimal place to the next higher in the case of these currencies. It has, therefore, been decided that in partial modification of the provisions contained in the former Ministry of Foreign Trade Public Notice No. 15-ITC(PN)/72, dated 28th January 1972, the composite rate in the case of Japanese Yen and Italian Lira should be calculated upto 4 (1137) 1138 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA EXTRAORDINAHY [PARI I—SEC. 1]

decimal places in the same manner as indicated in para 3 of the aforesaid Public Notice but the rounding off should be done at the 3rd decimal place to the next higher paisa. This method of calculation of the composite rate will be appli- cable only in respect of Japanese. You and Italian Lira and not for other currencies

3. This will have effect from the date of iasue of this Public Notice.
