NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 28th January 1975
S.O. S6(E) Whereas the Election Commission by its notification No. 100/AS-HP/ 1/74(BYE)(2), dated 17th January, 1975, issued under section 30 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 195 1) has appointed 16 February, 1975 (Sunday), as. the date of poll for the bye-election from 6-Barpeta Parliamentary Constituency in the State of Assam;
And whereas the Election Commission, is satisfied that on account of unavoidable circumstances the poll in the said Parliamentary Constituency cannot be taken on the date fixed.
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 30 and 153 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, read with section 21 of the General Clauses Act, 1897 (10 of 1897) and all other powers enabling it in that, behalf, the Election Commission hereby makes the following amendments in its notification No. 100/AS- HP/I/74(BYE)<2), dated 17 January, 1975, issued under section 30 of the said Act, namely, for clauses (d) and (e) of the said notification, the following clauses shall be substituted:—
(d) the 20 February, 1975 (Thursday) as the date on which a poll shall, if
necessary, be taken; and
