IMPORT TRADE CONTROL

SUBJECT.—Import of professional components by Professional Equipment Manufacturers
No. 83-ITC(PN)/75.— Attention is invited to para 83. Section I of the Import Trade Control Policy Red Book (Vol. 1) for the period April, 1975.—March 1976, in terms of which actual users engaged in 'select' industries are permitted to import against their import licences of raw materials and components, any item even though the item, in question, is not permissible for import in terms of import policy, upto 5 per cent of the face value of the licence issued for the period 1975-76, subject to specified conditions mentioned in sub-paras (i) to (xi) of the aforesaid para 83
2. In the case of professional components for the manufacture of professional equipment, the matter has been examined and it has been decided to allow the import of professional components required for the manufacture of professional equipment, even though the item, in question, may not be permissible for import in terms of the import policy, upto 10 per cent of the face value of the licence for raw materials and com- ponents, subject to the condition that no single item will be imported under the facility for a value exceeding Rs. 1 lakh. The other conditions referred to in sub-paras (i) to (xi) of para 83 of Section I of the Red Book (Vol I) for 1975-76 will continue to be applicable for import of non-permissible items of professional components to the extent of 10 per cent or Rs 1 1akh as already provided
