THE PAYMENT OF WAGES (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE,
1975

Promulgated by the President in the Twenty-sixth Year of the Republic of India.
An Ordinance further to amend the Payment of Wages Act, 1936.
WHEREAS Parliament is not in session and the President is satisfied that circumstances exist which render it necessary for him to take im- mediate action;
Now, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of article 123 of the Constitution, the President is pleased to promulgate the following Ordinance: —
(1) This Ordinance may be called the Payment of Wages
(Amendment) Ordinance, 1975

2. During the period of operation of this Ordinance, the Payment of Wages Act, 1936 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), shall have effect subject to the amendments specified in sections 3, 4 and 5.

"four hundred rupees", the words "one thousand rupees" shall be substi- tuted.
4,, In section 6 of the principal Act, the following^ proviso shall be inserted at the end, namely: —
Amend- ment of section 6.
"Provided that the employer may, after obtaining the written authorisation of the employed person, pay him the wages either by cheque or by crediting the wages in his bank account.".
5. In sub-section (2) of section 7 of the principal Act, after clause (o), the following clause shall be inserted, namely: —
Amend- ment of section 7.
"(p) deductions, made with the written authorisation of the em- ployed person, for contribution to the Prime Minister's National .Relief Fund or to such other Fund as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette,-specify.".
