ELECTION COMMISSION OF INDIA NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 4th December 1975
S.O. 696(E).—In pursuance of the provisions contained in sub-sections (.1) and (2) of section 13AA of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, and in supersession of its notification No. 508/WB/71, dated 18 August, 1971, the Election Commission, in consulta- tion with the Government of West Bengal, hereby designates;—
(i) for each of the districts of Cooch Behur, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling and Purulia, the Deputy Commissioner of the district as the District Election Officer; , (ii) for each of the districts of West Dinajpur, Malda, Murshidabad, Nadia, 24- Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, Midnapore, Bankura, Burdwan and Birbhum, the District Magistrate of the district as the District Election Officer; and
(iii) for the Calcutta district, the Collector of Calcutta, the Director of Panchayat, the District Magistrate, 24-Farganas and the Director of Land Records and Surveys, as the District Election Officers; and
(iv) with reference to clause (iii) above, specifies that the area in respect of which each of the four officers designated herein shall exercise jurisdiction, shall respec- tively be the area comprised within:—
(a) Collector of Calcutta in, respect of wards 1, 2, 4, 5, 11 to 16, 28 to 40, 47 to
50, 59, 61, 64, 66 and 67 of the Calcutta Corporation.
(b) Director of Panchayats in respect of wards 6 to 10, 17 to 27, 41 to 46, 51 to 58, 60 62 and 63 of the Calcutta Corporation.
(c) District Magistrate 24-Parganas in respect of wards 3 and 80 to 84 of the Calcutta Corporation,
