NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 20th December 1975

S.O. 721(E)/Ess. Comm/Iron & Steel.—In exercise of the powers conferred by Clause 17B of the Iron and Steel (Control) Order, 1956, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments to the notification of the Government of India in the late Ministry of Sleel and Heavy Engineering No. S.O. 1567/ESS/COMM/IRON & STEEL dated the 7th April, 1971:—

In the said notification, in clause 2,—

(1) in sub-clause fa), under the heading "Functions", in paragraph (13), after item (xi), the following items shall be inserted, namely:—

"(xii) Plates including Coils,(xiii) Forging Quality Steels of all categories"; (2) for sub-clause (b), the following sub-clause shall be substituted, namely:—

(b) Steel Priority Committee.

The Committee shall consist of—

(i) Secretary, Department of Steel.

(ii) Chairman, Railway Board,

(in) Secretary, Depaitinent of Heavy Industry, (iv) Secretary, Planning Commission, (v) Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, (vi) Secretary, Department of Export Production,

(vii) Secretary. Technical Development,

(viii) Secretary, Department of Defence Production,

fix) Secretary, Department of Power. (x) Secretary, Department of irrigation,

(xi) Development Commissioner, Small Scale Industries, (xii) Director (Commercial), Steel Authority of India Limited,

(xiii) Managing Director SAIL International Limited, (xiv) General Manager, Bhilai Steel Plant,

(xv) Generul Manager, Rourkela Steel Plan, (xvi) General Manager, Durgapur Steel Plant, (xvii) Managing Director, Bokaro Steel Limited,

(xviii) Managing Director, Tata Iran and Steel Company Limited,

(xix) Administrator, Indian Iron and Steel Company Limited,

(xx) Joint Secretary, Department of Steel.

Functions

(1) The Chairman of the Stecj Priority Committee (herein-after referred to as th*j Committee) may invite or co-opt any other Secretary to the Govern- ment of India or Head of Department to attend any meeting of the Committee.

(2) The Committee shall meet once at least in three months and review—

(a) the Production of Iron and Steel; and

(b) matters relating to distribution and sale of Iron and Steel; and take suitable decisions relating thereto.

(3) The Committee shall at its m.eetings review the implementation of its deci- sions taken in earlier meetings, and shall also generally review the overall position of availability of Iron and Steel including import and export and supply thereof, particularly to the priority sectors of the economy.

(4) The Committee shall, from time to time, review the working of the Joint Plant Committee.

2. Nothing herein contained shall affect decisions, orders, and allocations made by the Steel Priority Committee before the date of this notification with regard to—

(i) Plates including Coils;
