NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 5lh January 1976
S.O. 21 (E).—Whereas an accident occurred in the Chasnala Colliery (District Dhanbad in the State of Bihar) on the 27th December, 1975 causing loss of lives; And whereas in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 24 of the Mines Act, 1952 (35 of 1952), the Central Government has, by the notifica- tion of the Government of India in the Ministry of Labour, No. N.11015/9/75-MI dated the 31st December, 1975, appointed Justice Ujjal Narain Sinha, retired Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, to hold a formal inquiry into the causes of and circumstances attending the accident;
Now therefore in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 24 of the said Act. the Central Government hereby appoints the following persons as assessors in holding the inquiry, namely:—
(1) Shri C Karunakaran, retired Director General of Geological Survey
of India. Flat No. 2, Central Government Quarters, Belvedere, Alipore, Calcutta-27.
