NOTIFICATIONS
CENTRAL EXCISES
New Delhi, the 12th January 1976
G.S.R. 22(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, the Central Government hereby makes the following further amendments to the notifications of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue and Insurance) Nos. 43/74-Central Excises, dated the 1st March, 1974 and 40/75-Central Excises, dated the 1st March, 1975, namely:—
(a) In notification No. 43/74-Central Excises, dated the 1st March, 1974, after the second proviso, the following further proviso shall be inserted, namely:—
"Provided also that in the case of the products mentioned in the aforesaid Table manufactured with the aid of electric furnace from any of the following materials, namely:— (i) old iron or steel melting scrap; (ii) a combination of the material referred to at (i) above with fresh unused steelmeltingscrapon which the appropriate duty of excise has beet.

(iii) iron in any crude form falling under Item No. 25 of the said First Sche- dule on which the appropriate duty of excise has been paid, in combi- nation materials referred to at (i) and (ii) above,

said Table shall, when cleared during the period commencing on the 12th
day of January, 1976 and ending with the 28th day of February, 1977,
be reduced by seventy-five rupees per metric tonne.".
(b) ia notification No. 40/75-Cetfral Excises, dated the 1st March, 1975, after the
existing proviso, tn" following further proviso shall be inserted, namely:—
"Provided also that in the caie of the products mentioned in the aforesaid Table
manufactured with the aid of electric furnace from any of the following
materials, namely:—
0) old iron or "ttol melting scrap;
(ii) a combination of the material referred to at (i) above with fresh unused
•tool melting scrap on which the appropriate duty of excise has been*
paid; and
(iii) iron in any crude form falling under Item No. 25 of the said First Schedule
on which the appropriate duty of excise has been paid, in combination
with the materials referred to at (i) and (ii) above,
the duty specified against the corresponding entries in column (3) of the
taid Table shall, when cleared during the period commencing on the 12th
day of January, 1976 and ending with the 28th day of February, 1977,
be reduced by seventy-five rupees per metric tonne".

In the said notification, in the proviso, after the words 'shall be reduced by seventy- *ve rupees per metric tonne", the wards, figures and letter* "up to the period ending *ith the a th day of February, 1977" shall be inserted.
