S.R.O. 5 ( E ) . Whereas draft of the Barrackpore Cantonment ( Division into Wards) Amendment Rules 1975 was published with the notification of the Govern- ment of India in the Ministry of Defence No. S.R.O. 34 - E dated 26th October , 1975 in the Gazette of India extraordinary Part II Section 4 dated the 28th October . 1975 as required by Section 31 of the Cantonments Act , 1924 ( 2 of 1924 ) for inviting objections and suggestions from all the personsrsons likely to be affected thereby till the 28th December , 1975 .
And whereas the aforesaid Gazette was made available to the public on the 28th October , 1975 ;
And whereas no objections or suggestions were received from any person before the date so specified ;
Now, therefore , in exercise of the power conferred by clauses ( a ) and ( b ) of Section 31 of the said Act , the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Barrackpore Cantonment ( Division into Wards ) Rules , 1953 , namely :
1. ( 1 ) These rules may be called the Barrackpore Cantonment ( Division into Wards ) Amendment Rules , 1976 .
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. For the Schedule annexed to the Barrackpore Cantonment ( Division into Wards ) Rules , 1533 une following shalı be substituted , namely : -
THE SCHEDULE

(BOUNDARIES OF WARDS )
Ward I. The boundary of this ward begins from Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 4 , and runs in easterly direction upto Sadar Bazar Road from where it runs in a northerly direction upto Moochi Mohal Road from where it turns in a westerly direction along the Moochi Mohal Road upto the Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 10 and thence it runs in a southerly direction along the Cantonment Boundary line upto Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 9 - from where it turns westward upto Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 8 and then it runs in a southerly direction upto Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 7 and thereafter it runs in an easterly direction upto Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 6- from where it runs in a southerly direction along the Cantonment Boundary upto Pillar No. 5 and then to Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 4 that is to say, the starting point .
WardII. The boundary of this ward begins from the junction of Baker Mohal Road and Sadar Bazar Road and runs eastward along the Baker Mohal Road upto its junction with Hospital Road from where it turns south and runs along the Hospital Road upto its junction with Bazaz Mohal Road and then it runs westerly directions upto its junction with Sadar Bazar Road . From there it runs north- ward along the Sadar Bazar Road to meet the junction of Baker Mohal Road and Sadar Bazar Road , that is to say , the starting point .
Ward III - The boundary of this ward begins from Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 10. It runs in a northerly direction upto Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 11 and then it runs easterly direction upto Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 12- from thero it runs north upto Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 13- from there it runs eastward and runs upto the junction of Sadar Bazar Road and then it runs in a northerly direction along the Sadar Bazar Road upto the junction with Baker Mohal Road . From there it runs in an easterly direction along the Baker Mohal Road upto the junction of Baker Mohal Road and Hospital Road and then it runs in a southerly direction along the Hospital Road upto its junction with Baker Mohal Road and , from there the boundary runs in a westerly direction along the Baker Mohal Road upto its junction with Sadar Bazar Road and then it runs in a southerly direction upto the junction of Moochi Mohal Road and Sadar Bazar Road and then it turns westward and runs upto Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 10 , that is to say , the starting point .
Ward IV. The boundary of this ward begins from Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 13 and runs in a northerly direction passing Cantonment Boundary Pillar Nos . 14 , 15 , 16 , 17 , 18 , 19 and 20. From there the boundary turns eastward and follows Cantonment Boundary Pillar Nos . 21 , 22 and 23 and from there it runs in a southerly direction along the Hospital Road upto the junction of Hospital Road and Baker Mohal Road from where it runs in a westerly direction along the Baker Mohal Road upto its junction with Sadar Bazar Road , there it turns south- ward upto the crossing of lane between Aligole Mohal and Moochi Mohal ( Corner of 55 Aligole Mohal ) and then it turns westward and runs upto Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 13 , that isto say , the starting point .
Ward V. The boundary of this ward begins from Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 23 and runs in northerly direction passing the Cantonment Boundary Pillar Nos . 24 , 25 , 26 upto Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 27. From there the boundary runs in an easterly direction crossing CarCantonment Boundary Pillar Nos . 28 ,28, 29, 30 , 31 , 31 - A upto Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 32. From there the boundary turns towards south upto Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 33 and then it runs in a westerly direction to meet the Orderly Bazar Road thence it runs southward along the Orderly Bazar Road upto its junction with Barasat Road . From there it runs in a westerly direction to meet Gun Shell Road from where the boundary turns southward to join Barrack Road-then it runs in a westerly direction along the Barrack Road upto the junction of Barrack Road with Hospital Road . From there the boundary finally runs towards north along the Hospital Road upto the Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 23 , that is to say, the starting point .
Ward VI- The boundary of this ward begins from the junction of Sadar Bazar Road and Bazaz Mohal Road and runs in an easterly direction along the Bazaz Mohal Road upto its junction with Hospital Road . From there it runs southward SEC. 4 ]

along the Hospital Road upto the junction of Hospital Road and Barrack Road- then the boundary turns eastward and runs along the Barrack Rond upto its junc- tion with Grand Trunk Road . From there the boundary turns northward and runs along the Gun Shell Road and then it turns north - eastward and runs upto the junction of Barasat Road and Orderly Bazar Road . From there the boundary runs towards south along the Orderly Bazar Road and then in an easterly direction upto Cantonment Boundary line between Pillar Nos . 35 and 36 at a distance of 317.90 metres from Pillar No. 35 and thereafter it runs in a southerly direction along the Cantonment Boundary line upto the Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 36 , and then it runs upto Grand Trunk Road . From there it runs west upto the junction of Grand Trunk Road and Riverside Road and then it runs in a southerly direction upto the River Hooghly along the Riverside Road and Flag Staff Ghat Road . From there the boundary runs in a westerly direction along the edge of the River Hooghly upto the Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 1 and then follows the Cantonment Boundary Pillar Nos . 2 , 2A, 2B , 3 and 4 on the Moorgi Mohal Road and then it turns eastward and runs along the Moorgi Mohal Road upto its junction with Sadar Bazar Road . From there the boundary runs northward upto the junction of Sadar Bazar Road and Bazar Mohal Road , that is to say, the starting point .
Ward VII . The boundary of this ward begins from the junction of Grand Trunk Road and Orderly Bazar Road and runs in an easterly direction upto the Canton . ment Boundary Pillar No. 33 and follows the Cantonment Boundary Line towards south passing Pillar Nos , 34 , 34A , 34B , 34C . From there the boundary turns towards west upto Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 34D and then it runs in a southerly direction along the Cantonment Boundary line upto Artillery Road then it turns in a westerly direction along the Artillery Road to its junction with Orderly Bazar Road. From there the boundary runs in a nonortherly direction along the Orderly Bazar Road upto its junction with Grand Trunk Road , that is to say the starting point . "
