S.R.O. 11-(E).—Whereas draft of the Jabalpur Cantonment (Division into Wards) Amendment Rules. 1975 was published with the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Defence No. SRO 31-E. dated the 27th September, 1975, in the Gazette of India, Extra ordinary Part I], Section 4, dated the 29th September 1975 as required by section 31 of the Cantonments Act, 1924 (2 of 1924), for inviting objections and suggestions from all the persons likely to be affected thereby till the 29th November, 1975.

And, whereas the aforesaid Gazette was made available to the public on the 29th September, 1975;

And, whereas alt the objections and suggestions received before the date specified have been duly considered by the Central Government;

Now therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by clauses (a) and (b) of Section 31 of the said Act, the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, further to amend, the Jabalpur Cantonment (Division into Wards) Rules, 1954, namely:—

1. (1) These rules may be called the Jabalpur Cantonment (Division into Wards) Amendment Rules, 1976.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette

2. For the Schedule annexed to the Jabalpur Cantonment (Division into Wards) Rules, 1954. the following shall be substituted, namely:—

"THE SCHEDULE

{See rule 3)

BOUNDARIES OF WARDS

Ward I.—This Ward shall be divided into two parts namely:—

(A) on the east of Railway line from Nainpur toi Jabalpur.

(B) on the West of Railway line from Nainptir to Jabalpur.

(A) Boundary of this portion starts from the junction of Mall Road and Beach Avenue Road, and proceeds westwards along the Mall Road till it meets Norris Road. Further it goes along Norris Road till it meets thc Kings- way. From this point the boundary runs along thc Kingsway then easter- ly direction upto its junction with Street No. 1, Sadar Bazar, Thence it turns Southwards and runs along Street No. 1 till it meets the Peter's Path. Farther the boundary turns North westwards and runs along Peters Path till it meets the Range Road. From this point it goes South west alone the Range Road up to its junction with Napier Road, thence it turns casl wards and proceeds along Napier Road till it meets the Shah Nullah. From this point the Boundary runs along Shah Nullah till it meets the Cantonment Boundary between Cantonment Boundary pillars Nos. 80 and 81. From this point it runs North west along the Cantonment boundary up to Cantonment boundary pillar No. 85, From this point boundary runs towards North along the Cantonment Boundary up to Cantonment boundary pillar No. 87. Further taking a turn towards east and running along Canton- ment Boundary it meets the Cantonment Boundary pillar No. 89. From Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 89 boundary runs South along the Canton- ment Boundary up to Cantonment Boundary pillar No. 95. From thi" point the boundary runs in a North easterly direction along the Canton- ment Boundary up to Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 121, thereafter boundary runs South east along the Cantonment Boundary till it meets boundary pillar No, 123 at the end of Morris Road, thence turns South west wards and proceed along Theatre Road till it meets Beach Avenue Road, thence turns South wards and proceeds along Beach Avenue Road till it meets the Mall, that is to say the starting point.

(B) Boundary of this portion starts from Cantonment Boundary pillar No. 126 and runs Southwards along the Cantonment Boundary till it meets Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 127. From Cantonment Boundary pillar No. 127 the boundary runs west along the Cantonment boundary till it meets Cantonment boundary pillar No.. 128 therefore it runs in a zig zag way along the Can- tonment Boundary till it meet Cantpnment Boundary pillar No. 138. From this point the boundary runs south along the Cantonment Boundary upto Cantonment Boundary pillar No, 126, that is to say, the starting point.

Ward H.—Commencing from Cantonment Boundary pillar No. 69, the boundary proceeds southward and follows the Cantonment Boundary line till it meets the boundary pillar No. 72, thence it follows thc Cantonment boundary line till it meets Shah Nailah between boundary pillars Nos. 80 and 81, t'nence proceeds north-eastwards and then north-wards along Shah-Nallah till it meet Napier Rand, thence turns weslwards and proceeds along Napier Road till it meets Range Road, thence turns northeast wards and proceed along Range Road, thence turns north-eastwards and proceeds along Range Road till it meets Peters Path, thence turns south-eastwards and proceeds along Peters Path till it meets Street No. 1 of Sadar Bazar, thence turns northwards and proceeds along Street No. 1 of Sadar Bazar, thence turns northwards and proceeds along Street No, 1 till it meets Street No, 23, thence turns east-warda and proceeds along Street No. 23, till it Street No. 1 till it meets Street No. 23, thence turns east-wards and proceeds along Street No. 23, till it meets Street No. 2, thence turns southwards and proceeds along Street No. 2 till it meets Peters Path, thence, turns south-eastwards and runs along Peters Path till it meets Queens Road, thence turns nothwards and proceeds along Queens Road till it meets Mandla Road, then turns south-eastwards and proceeds along Mandla Road till it meets Water Works Road, thence turns eastwards and proceeds along the Water Works Road till it meets Cantonment Boundary pillar No. 69, that is to say, the starting point.

Ward 111.—Commencing from the junction at Street No. 1 and Street No. 20 Sadar Bazar, the boundary proceeds eastwards along Street No. 20 till it meets Street No. 2, thence turns southwards and proceeds along Street No. 2 till it meets Street No. 21, fnenc: turns eastwards and proceeds along Street No. 21 till it meets Street No. 5, thence turns northwards and proceeds along Street No. 5 till it meets Street No. 16 thence it pro- ceeds along Street No. 5 till it meets the Kingsway, then turns eastwards and proceeds along Kingsway till it meets the Queens Road, thence turns southwards and proceeds along the Queens Road till it meets the Peters Path, thence turns north westwards and proceeds along Peters Path till it meets Street No. 2 Sadar Bazar, t'nen turns northwards and pro- ceeds along Street No. 2 till it meets Street No, 23, thence turns westwards and proceeds¹ along Street No. 23 till it meets Street No. 1 thence turns northwards and proceeds along Street No. 1 till it meets Street No. 20 that is to say, the starting point.

Ward IV.—Commencing from the junction of Street No. 1 and Street No. 20 Sadar Bazar, tho boundary proceeds eastwards along Street No. 20 till it meets Street No. 2, thence turns southwards and proceeds along Street No. 2 till it meets Street No. 21, thence turns eastwards and proceeds along Street No. 21 till it meets Street No. 5, thence turns northwards and proceeds northwards along Street No. 5 till it meets Street No. 16, thence turns eastwards and proceeds north-eastwards along Street No. 5 till it meets Street No. 11, thence turns westwards and proceeds along Street No. 11 till it meets Street No. 2 thence turns northwards and procosds along Street No. 2 till it meets Street No. 10, thence it turns westwards and proceeds along Street No. 10 till it meets Street No. I, thence turns southwards and proceeds along Street No. 1 till it meets Street No. 20, that is to say, the starting point.

Ward V.—Commencing from the junction of Street No. 1 Sadar Bazar and Kingsway, the boundary proceeds southwards along Street No. 1 Sadar Bazar till it meets Street No. 10, thence turns eastwards and proceeds along Street No. 10 till it meets Street No. 2, fnence turns southwards and proceeds along Street No. 2 till it meets Street No. 11, thence turns eastwards and proceeds along Street No. 11 till it meets Street No, 5, thence turns north- wards and proceeds along Street No. 5 till it meets Kingsway, thence turns eastwards and proceeds along Kingsway up to its junction with Queens Road, thence turns north-west- wards and proceeds along Queens Road till it meets the M'all Road, thence turns westwards and proceeds along the Mall Road till it meets the Norris Road, thence turns southwards and proceeds along Norris Road upto its junction with Kingsway, thence turns eastwards and proceeds along the KingsWay upto its junction with Street No. 1, Sadar Bazar, that it to say, the starting point.

Ward VI._Commcncing from Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 1 at the junction of Wesley Road and Denning Road, the boundary turns north-eastwards and proceeds along the Cantonment boundary line till it meets the boundary Pillar No. 5, thence proceeds eastwards till it meets Boundary Pillar No. 6, thence proceeds southwards till it meets boun- dary pillar No. 7, thence turns eastwards and proceeds along the Cantonment Boundary line till it meets Boundary Pillar No, 17, thence it proceeds along the Cantonment Boun- dary in a zig zag way till it meets Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 22 at the Lime Kiln Road, thence it turns south-eastwards and proceeds along Lime Kiln Road, till it meets Allen Avenue Road, thence it turns south-westwards till it meets Hampshire Hill Road, thence it turns eastwards and proceeds along Water Works Road till it meets the Prince of Wales Drive, thence it proceeds south-eastwards along Prince of Wales Drive till it again meets the Allen Avenue Road, thence it turns southwards and proceeds along Allen Avenue Road till it meets Water Works Road, thence it turns eastwards and proceeds along Water Works Road till it meets Cantonment Boundary line at Pillar No. 59, thence it turns south- wards and proceeds along the Cantonment Boundary Line till it meets Boundary Pillar No. 62, thence proceeds along Ihe Cantonment Boundary in a north-westerly direction till it meets Boundary Pillar No. 69 on Water Works Road, fnence further proceeds westwards along the southern side of Water Work* Road till it meets the Mandla Road, thence turns north-westwards and proceeds along M'andla Road till it meets Queens Road, thence turns northwards and proceeds along Queens Road till it meets the Mall Road, thence turns westwards and proceeds along the IVfall Road till it meets the Beach Avenue Road, thence it turns northwards and proceeds along Beach Avenue Road t^y-it.meets, the Theatre Road, thence turns north-eastwards and proceeds along Theatre.-Ift5adctill it meeft: Queens Road, thence it turns south-eastwards crosses Queens Road aijd> proceeds '.eastwards/ aJpng Neil Road till it meets Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 125,'thence it turns southwards -and •proceeds along Wesley Road till it meets Cantonment Boundary ^illa^Wct, 1 at the juw^wqA\ of Wesley Road and Denning Road, that is to toy, the starting pdint.v •--..._ r V

Ward VII.—Commencing from the Cantonment Boundary Pillar No. 31 the boundary proceeds south-westwards along the Cantonment Boundary line till it meets the Lime Kiln Road at Ridge at Pillar No. 22, thence it turns south-eastwards and proceeds along Lime Kiln Road till it meets Allen Avenue Road, thence it turns south-westwards till it meets Hampshire Hill Road, thence it turns south-westwards and proceeds along Hampshire Hill Road til) it meets the Prince of Wales Drive, thence it proceeds south-eastwards along Prince of Wales Drive, till it again meets the Allen Avenue Road, thence it turns South- wards and proceeds along Allen Avenue Road till it meets Water Works Road, thence it turns eastwards and proceeds along Water Works RoaJ till it meets Cantonment Boundary line at pillar No. 59, then proceeds north-eastwards along the Cantonment Boundary line till it meets Cantonment boundary Pillar No. 32, thence proceeds in a north-easternly direc- tion along the Cantonment Boundary Line passing Boundary Pillar Nos. 31/94 to 31/52 till it inedts Boundary Pillar No. 31/53, thence it proceeds in a South-westerly direction along Cantonment Boundary Line upto Pillar No. 31/19, thence it proceeds in a zig zag way along the Cantonment Boundary through Cantonment Boundary Pillar Nos, 31/18-B to 31/4 upto Cantonment Boundary Pill'ar No. 31/3. thence it proceeds southwards along Cantonment Boundary upto Boundary Pillar No. 31, that is to say, the starting point,

SJt.O. 12(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 16 of the Cantonments Act 1924 (2 of 1924), the Central Government hereby fixes 10th April, 1976 as the date on which elections in Jabalpur Cantonment shall be held.
