New Delhi , the 3rd March 1976
S.O. 157 (E). In pursuance of section 12 of the Representation of the People Act , 1951 (43 of 1951 ) , the President is pleased to call upon the elected members of the Legislative Assembly or , as the case may be , the members of the electoral college , of each State or the Unio Territoryiconcerned , specified in column I of the table below, to elect, in tccordarce with the provisions of the said Act and the rules and orders made thereunder , the number of members specified against each such State of Union territory in column 2 of the said table , for filling the seats of the members of the Council of States retiring on the 2nd April , 1976 , on the expiration of their term of office , including the seat of a member representing the State of Maharashtra, who died on 4-7-1975 and would have otherwise retired on 2nd April, 1976, and the seats of two members representing the State of Uttar Pradesh , of whom one died on 19-4-1975 and the other resigned on 10-1-76 and both of whom would have otherwise retired on 2nd April , 1976 :-

नई दिल्ली, 3 मार्च , 1976
का ० प्रा ० 157 ( प) लोक प्रतिनिधित्व अधिनियम , 1951 ( 1951 का 43) की धारा 12 के अनुसरण में राष्ट्रपति, नीचे दी गई सारणी के स्तम्भ में विनिर्दिष्ट यथास्थिति प्रत्येक राज्य या संव राज्यक्षेत्र की संबंधित विधान सभा के निर्वाचित सदस्यों या निर्वाचकगण के सदस्यों को, राज्य सभा के उन सदस्यों के स्थानों को भरने के लिए , जो 2 अप्रैल , 1976 को अपनी पदावधि की समाप्ति पर निवृत्त होने वाले हैं, उतने सदस्य , जिनकी संख्या उवत सारणी के स्तम्भ 2 में ऐसे प्रत्येक राज्य या संथ राज्यक्षेत्र के सामने विनिर्दिष्ट है और जिस संख्या में महाराष्ट्र राज्य का प्रतिनिधित्व करने वाले एक सदस्य का, जिनकी मृत्यु 4-7-1975 को हो गई और जो अन्यथा 2 अप्रैल , 1976 को निवृत्त होते और उत्सर राज्य प्रदेश का प्रतिनिधित्व करने वाले दो सदस्यों के , जिनमें से एक की मृत्यु 19-4-1975 को हो गई और दूसरे ने 10-1-76 को पद त्याग दिया है और जो कि दोनों ही सदस्य अन्यथा 2 अप्रैल , 1976 को निवृत्त होते , स्थान भी सम्मिलित है, उक्त अधिनियम और उसके अधीन बनाए गए नियमों और आदेशों के उपबंधों के अनुसार , निर्वाचित करने के लिए आहूत करते हैं:-
