New Delhi, the 5th October 1976
S.O. 662(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of sec- tion 1 of the Equal Remuneration Act, 1976 (25 of 1976). the Central Govern- ment hereby appoints the 8th day of October, 1976, as the date on which the said Act shall come into force in respect of employments in the manufacture of chemi- cals and chemical products (except products of petroleum and coal) specified in the Schedule annexed hereto.
THE SCHEDULE
Manufacture of Chemicals and chemical products (except products of petroleum
and coal).
1. Manufacture of basic industrial organic and inorganic chemicals and gases such as acids alkalies and their salts; gases like acetylene, oxygen, nitrogen etc.
2. Manufacture of fertilisers and pesticides. 3. Manufacture of paints, varnishes and lacquers. 4. Manufacture of drugs and medicines.

6. Manufacture of inedible oils. 7. Manufacture of turpentine, synthetic resins, plastic materials and synthetic fibres like nylon, terylene except glass.
8. Manufacture of Matches. 9. Manufacture of explosives and ammunition and flre works.
10. Manufacture of chemical products not covered by any other entry (including photo-chemicals, sensitised films and paper).

S.O. 663(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of sec- tion 6 of the Equal Remuneration Act, 1976 (25 of 197ft), the Central Government hereby specifies the employments in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (except products of petroleum and coal) mentioned in the Schedule annexed hereto, for the purpose of constitution of one or more Advisory Com- mittees by the appropriate Government to advise it with regard to the extent to which women may be employed in such employments.
