New Delhi, the 5th October 1976
S.O. 664(E)—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of sec- tion 1 of the Equal Remuneration Act, 1976 (25 of 1976) the Central Government hereby appoints the 8th day of October, 1976 as the date on which the said Act shall come into force in respect of employments in land and water transport speci- fied in the schedule annexed hereto:
THE SCHEDULE
Land Transport
1. Railway transport operated by private companies. 2. Passenger transport by tramway and bus-services. 3. Passenger transport by other motor vehicles. 4. Freight transport by motor vehicles. 5. Hackney carriages, bullock-carts, ekka, tonga, etc. 8 Transport by animals like horses, elephants, mules, camels etc. 7. Transport by man (including rickshaw pullers, hand cart pullers, porters, coolies, etc.)

S.O. 665(B).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 6 of the Equal Remuneration Act, 1976 (25 of 1976). the Central Government hereby specifies the employments in land and water transport mentioned in the schedule annexed hereto for the purpose of constitution of one or more Advisory Committees by the appropriate Government to advise- it with regard to the extent to which women may be employed in such employments,
