NOTIFICATION
CENTRAL EXCISES
New Delhi, the 31st December 1978
G.S.R. 967 (E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by Sub-section (2) of section 3 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944) and in super- session of the notification of the Government of India in the Department of Revenue and Banking (Revenue Wing) No. 266/76-Central Excises, dated the 1st November, 197G, the Central Government hereby fixes a tariff value of three hundred and ten rupees per quintal for sugar falling under sub-item (1) of Item No. 1 of the First Schedule to the said Act and chargeable with duty ad valorem:
Provided that nothing contained in this notification shall apply to sugar required by the Central Government to be sold under clause (1) of sub- section (2) of section 3 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 (10 of 1955).
