CENTRAL EXCISES
New Delhi, the 25th January 1977
G.S.R. 36(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government hereby makes the following amendment in the notification of the Government of India in the Department of Revenue and Banking No 291/76-Central Excises dated the 21st December. 1976 relating to the Central Excises (28th Amendment) Rules, 1976, namely: —
In the said notification, for sub-rule (2) of rule 1, the following sub-rule shall be substituted, namely: —
"(2) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Rule.".

jjg THE GAZETTE OF INDIA EXTRAORDINARY PART II—SEC. 3(i>G.S.R. 37 (E) —In pursuance of the second proviso to sub-rule (1) of rule 32 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, the Central Board of Excise and Customs hereby makes the following amendment in the notification of the Central Board oi Excise and Customs No 292/716-Central Excise, dated the 21st December, 1976, numely —
In the said notification, in the first paragraph,—
(a) in clause (b), for item ( I ), the following item shall be substituted., numely:—
" ( I) Date of issue (both in figures and words),",
(b) after clause (i), the following clauses shall be inserted, namely: —
" 0) Over writings and cuttings in the entries in a sale-note shall make- it invalid, unless such over writings and cuttings are duly attested. (k) All entries in the sale-note shall be made by usmjj indelible pencil and double sided carbon."

G.S.K. 38(5) —In exercise of the powers conferred by bub-rule (2) of rule 1 of the Central Excise (28th Amendment) Rules, 1976, published with the notifica- tion of the Government of India in the Department of Revenue and Banking No. 291/76-Central Excises, dated the 21st December, 1976, 'as amended by the notification of the Government of India in the Department of Revenue and Banking, No. 9/77-Central Excises, dated the 25th day of January, 1977, the Central Government hereby appoints—
d) 1st day of February, 1977, as the date on which rules 2, 3 and 4 of the
said Rules shall come into force, and
(n) 1st day of April, 1977, as the date op which rule 5 of the said Rules shall come into force
