CENTRAL EXCISES

G.S R 199 (E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 3 of the Central Excise and Salt Art 1944 (1 of 1944) and in supersession of the notification of the Government of India in the Department of Revenue and Bank- ing (Revenue Wing) No 44/77-Central Excises, dated the 1st April, 1977, the Cen- tral Government hereby fixes a tariff value of two hundred seventy rupees per quintal for sugar falling under sub-item (1) of Item No 1 of the First Schedule to the said Act and chargeable with duty ad-valorem-
Provided that nothing contained in this notification shall apply to sugar requir- ed by the Central Government to be sold under clause (f) of sub-section (2) of section 3 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 (10 of 1955)
