G S.R 259(E)—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of sec- tion 3 of the Central Excise and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), and in supersession of the notification of the Government of India in the Department of Revenue and Banking (Revenue Wing) No 73/77-Cen1ral Excises, dated the 30th April, 1977, the Central Government hereby fixes a tariff value of two hundred seventy five rupees per quintal for sugar falling under sub-item (1) of Item No, ] of the First Schedule to the said Act and chargeable with duty ad-valorem
Provided that nothing contained in this notifitation shall apply to sugar required by the Central Government to be sold under clause (f) of sub-section (2) of section 3 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 (10 of 1955),
