New Delhi, the 17th March 1978

S . R . O. 5(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 9 of the Air Force Act, 1950 (45 of 1950 and in supersession of the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Defence, No. S R O. 34-E, dated the 6th December, 1971, the Central Government hereby declares that all persons subject to that Act who are not on active service under clause (1) of Suction 4 thereof shall, while serving in the areas specified below and with reference to that Act of any other law for the time being in force, be deemed to be on active service within the meaning of that Act :—

(1) The States of —

(a) Jammu and Kashmir (b) Manipur (c) Nagaland (d) Tripura (c) Sikkim;

(2) The Union Terriotories of —

(a) The Andaman and Nicobar Islands
