G.S.R. 18"(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (4) of section 1 of the Water (Prevention and Oontro! of Pollution) Cess Act, 1977 (36 of 1977), the Central Government hereby appoints the 1st day of April, 1978, as the day on which the said Act shall come into force.
