Subject—Import Policy 1978-79—Import of Basic Chrome Powder including Chromosole S F and Chromohne
File No. 1/9/REP/74-EPC.—Attention is invited to paras 209 and 211 m Chapter 21 "Transitional Arrangaments" in the import policy 1978-79 published under the Department of Commerce Public Notice No 22 ITCfPN)/78 doted (he 3id April, 1978
According to the provisions made in the aforesaid paiagicphs, REP licences issued during April 1977—March 1978 (With or without a IM of specified items) and REP licences issued dunng 1978 79 pertaining to exports made prior to list April 1978, will not be valid for import of items appearing in the banned lists in Appendices 3 and 6 of the import policy 1978 79, subject to ceitam relaxations indicated.
3 On a review of the position it has been decided that REP licences referred to in paragraph 2 above which have been issued against the exports of leather falling under S No D 1 1 to D 1 4 of the import policy for Re- gisteied Exporters, will be valid, within their over-all value, for the import of " Basic Chrome Powder including Chromosole S F and Chromohne"
4 Paras 209 and 211 in Chapter 21 of the import policy 1978-79 shall be deemed to have been amended accordingly

Subject.—Submission of applications for import of Capital Goods by Industrial Units registered with DGTD.
File No. ITC(HB)/Chapter VIII/78-79.—Attention is invited to the provisions made in paragraph 140(1) of Chapter-VHI on "Capital Goods" of the Hand Book of Import-Export Procedures, 1978-79. published under the Department of Commerce Public Notice No. 29-lTC(PN)/78 dated the 4:h May, 1978, according to which applications for import of capital goods have to be made to ihe regional licensing authorities concerned in cayes where the c.i.f. value of the goods sought to be imported is upto Rs. 10 00 lakhs.
2. Under the said provision, units borne on the books of the DGTD, New Delhi have also to apply to the regional licensing authorities concerned where the value applied for is not more than Rs 10 lakhs. Pending finalisaiion of necessary adminis'rative arrangements for the decentralisation of the DGTD for the purpose, it has been decided that such applications of the DGTD units should be made to the Chief Controller of Imports & Exports, New Delhi instead of the regional licensing au'horities concerned.
3. After a decision has been taken, the application will be sent to the regional licenying authority concerned for implementation of the decision by issue of import licence or otherwise, as the case may be.
