S.O. 603(E).—Whereas a vacancy has occurred in the House of the People by reason of the resignation of Shri Karpoori Thakur, a member elected to that House from 17- Samastipur Parliamentary constituency in the State of Bihar;

(a) 30 October, 1978 (Monday), as the last date for
making nominations ;
(b) 1 November, 1978 (Wednesday), as the date for the
scrutiny of nominations ;
(c) 3 November, 1978 (Friday), as the last date for the
withdrawal of candidatures ;
(d) 26 November, 1978 (Sunday), as the date on which
a poll shall, if necessary, be taken; and
(e) 4 December, 1978 (Monday), as the date before
which the election shall be completed.

S.O. 605(E).—In pursuance of section 56 of the Representa- tion of the People Act, 1951 (43 of 1951), the Election Commission hereby fixes the hours from 7-30 a-m. to 4.30 p.m. as the hours during which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken for the bye-election to the House of the People from 17- Samastipur Parliamentary Constituency, to be held in pur- suance of its notification No. 100/BR-HP/1/78(1), dated the 23rd October, 1978.
