NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 22nd November, 1978
S.O. 674(E).—Whereas a vacancy has occurred in the Council of States due to the death of Shri Deorao Shivram Patil, a member elected to the Council of States from Maharashtra, before the expiration of his term office;
S.O. 675(E).—In pursuance of the provisions of sub- section (1) of section 39 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby appoints for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 1(00/CS-MT/l/78(l) dated 22 November, 1978 :—
(a) 29 November, 1978 (Wednesday), as the last date
for making nominations ;

S.O. 676(E).—In pursuance of section 56 of the Rep- resentation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commis- sion hereby fixes the hours from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. as the hours during which a poll shall, if necessary, be taken for the election to the Council of States to be held 1B pursuance of its notification No. 100/CS-MT/l/78(l), dated 22 November, 1978.
[No. 100/CS-MT/l/78(3)] S.O, 677(E)—In pursuance of the provisions of section 21 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission, in consultation with the Government of Maharashtra hereby designates (he Additional Secretary, Maharashtra Legislature Secretariat, Council Hall, Nagpur, as the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100/ CS-MT/1/78(1) dated 22 November, 1978.

S.O. 678(1:).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 22 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Election Commission hereby appoints Shri V. M, Subrarnaniyam, Deputy Secretary, Maharsishtra Legislature Secretariat, Council Hall, Nagpur, to assist the Returning Officer for the election to the Council of States to be held in pursuance of its notification No. 100/ CS-MT/1/78(1), dated 22 November, 1978, in the perfor- mance of his functions.
