NOTIFICATION

S.O. 684 (E).—Whereas by the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Energy (Department of Coal) No. S.O. 186 dated the 22nd December, 1977 under sub-section (1) of Section 7 of the Coal Bearing Areas (Acquisition and Development) Act, 1957 (20 of 1957) published in Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii) of the Gazette of India dated the 21st January, 1978, the Central Government gave notice of its intention to acquire lands and rights to mine, quarry, bore, dig and search for, win, work and carry away minerals in the locality specified in the Schedule I and II appended to that notification;

And whereas no objection was made to the acquisition of the lands and the mining rights in the locality aforesaid;

And whereas the Central Government after consulting the Government of Madhya Pradesh is satisfied that :

(a) the lands measuring 652.450 acres (approximately) or 264.037 hectares (approximately) described in the Schedule I appended

hereto and;

(b) the rights to mine, quarry, bore, dig and search for win, work and carry away minerals in the lands measuring 2988.870 acres

(approximately) or 1209.551 hectares (approximately) described in the Schedule II appended hereto; should be acquired-

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 9 of the Coal ^Bearing Areas (Acquisition and

Development) Act. 1957 (20 of 1957), the Central Government hereby declares that :

(i) the lands measuring 652.45 acres (approximately) or 264.037 hectares (approximately) described in the said Schedule I and

(ii) the rights to mine, quarry, boTe, dig and search for, win, work and carry away minerals in the lands measuring 2988.87 acres

(approximately) or 1209.551 hectares (approximately) described in the said Schedule n are hereby acquired.

The plans of the area covered by this notification rmay' be [inspected in the Office of the Collector, Ambikapur, District—Surguja (Madhya Pradesh) or in the Office of the Coal Controller, 1, Council House Street, Calcutta or in the Office of the Western Coalfields Limited (Revenue Section), Bisesar House, Temple Road, Nagpur (Maharashtra).
