1962), the Central Government being satisfied that it is neces- sary in the public interest so to do, hereby exempts viscose staple fibre, viscose tow and polynosic staple fibre, falling within Chapter 56 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1975), when imported into India, from the whole of the duty of customs leviable thereon under the said First Schedule.
2. This notification shall be in force upto and inclusive of
the 31st December, 1979.

24 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA : EXTRAORDINARY [PART II—SEC. 3 ( OfCSJt. 16(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub- •cction (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), read with nub-section (4) of section 35 of the Finance Act, 1978 (19 of 1978), the Central Government, being satis- fied that it K necessary in the public interest so to do, here- by makes the following further amendments in the notifica- tion of the Government of India, in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), No. 96-Customs, dated the 12th May, 1978, namely :—
(a) serial numbers 126, 162 and 173 shall be omitted;
(a) serial No. 126, 162 and 173 shall be omitlcd ;
(b) after serial No. 220 and the entries relating thereto,
the following shall be inserted, namely :—
"221 No, 6-Customs, dated the 5th January, 1979".

G.S.H. 17(E) In exercise of the powers conferred by sub- section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962), the Central Government being satisfied that it is neces- sary in the public interest so to do, hereby exempts viscose stiple fibre and viscose tow, falling within Chapter 56 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 (51 of 1973), when imported into India, from so much of that portion of the additional duty leviable thereon under section 3 of the above-mentioned Act as is in exce*s of one rupee thirty two paise per kilogram.
2. This notification shall be in force upto and inclusive of the 3 lu December, 1979.
