NOTIFICATION
CENTRAL EXCISES
G.S.R. 19(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, the Central Government hereby makes the following further amendment in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue and In- surance) No. 55/75-Central Excises, dated the 1st March, 1975, namely :—
In the Schedule annexed to the said notification, after item 21, the following item shall be inserted, namely :—
"22. Guar splits".
26 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA: EXTRAORDINARY [PART II—SEC. 3(i)] G.S.R. 200E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Kxcisc Rules, 1944. the Central Government hereby exempts all goods fallingunder Item No. 68 of the First Schedule to the Central
Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1. of 1944) and manufactured in
prisons from the whole of the duty of excise leviable thereon.
Explanation :—For the puiposes of this notification, the
expression "prison" means any jail or place used permanently
or temporarily under the general or special orders of a State
Government for the detention of prisoners and includes —
(i) any place which has been declared by the Slate
Government by general or special order, to be a
subsidiary jail; and
(ii) any reformatory, Borstal Institution or ether insti-
tution of a like nature.
