New Delhi, the 21st March, 1979

CENTRAL EXCISES

G.S.R. 256(E).—In exeiuise of rhc powers conferred by sub-rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendment in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 61 |79-CentraI Excises, dated the 1st Mnvch, 1979, namely :—

In the said notification, the following Explanation shall be inserted at the

end, namely :—

"Explanation :-—For the purposes of this notification, 'machines' shall not

include—

(a) manually operated looms; and

(b) manually operated implements, used independently by hand such as

hooking guns, tufting guns, and knitting guns.".
