S. O. 233(E).—Whereas by its order dated the, 20th April, 1979, published in the Gazette of India, extraordinary Part TI, Section 3(ii) dated thc 20th April, 1979 and republished in thc Punjab Government Gazette of thc same date, tile Commission appointed—
(a) the 13th May, 1979 (Sunday), as thc dntc on which the repoU shall be taken in all the polling stations In the Fazilka assembly constituency u;id pulling sta- tion No. K-Chhanga Rai Hithar in Guru Har S.ihai assembly constituency, comprised in 13-I;uozcpur Parliamentary Consf:tuency between 7.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m.; anil
(b) the 23rd Apiil, 1979 (Monday), as thc date by which the postal ballot papers shall K; 9snt by the Return- ing Officer to all thc voters entitled to vote through postal ballot in terms of thc older of 1 he High Court of Punjab and Haryana ~,
And whereas on account of the interim directions of the Commission, the postal ballot papers to be despatched La the voters entitled to vote through postal ballot couid not be sent on the 23rd April, 1979 as originally fixed, pending the decision of the Commission after thc meeting fixed for the 26th April, 1979 ;
Now, therefore, after taking into account thc facts and circumstances stated above, the Election Commission in e\ercise of its powers conferred by article 324 of the Cons-- I'tulion read with Section 30. 56, and 64A of thc Representa- tion of lhs People Act, 1951, Section 21 of the General Clauses Act, 1397 HO of 1897) and all other powers enabling it to do so, hereby amende it; notification dated thc 20th April, 1979 as follows :—
For the words, figures, letters and brackets "the 13th May, 1979 (Sunday)" and "the 23rd April. 197'* (Monday)", the words, figures, letters and brackets ''20th May, ll'T'-i iSuoday)" and "the 28th April, 1979 'Saturday)" resne:f:vi!y shall be substituted.
